our hsi-story

HSI began informally in 1997, growing out of the existing music ministry within Operation Mobilization. Two pilot projects took place in Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, installing small, digital recording studios to help locals make better quality recordings.

After the pilot projects, other projects were done in Africa and Asia. Over time the focus grew to also include songwriting events, public concerts of new songs, internships, seminars on biblical worship, and various kinds of training. In 2003 video became an added focus for projects, including video studio installations in North Africa, India, and elsewhere.

Over time HSI teams took on projects in many parts of the world, most often assisting believers in places where few facilities existed or where the churches faced restrictions. On occasion HSI has made return visits for ongoing projects and training of locals.
